Dedicated to the memory of Richard Lestner

My amazing husband Richard passed away on 8th August 2019 from oesophageal cancer after a brave, 18-month battle.

Richard was the most incredible guy, he was a GP at Lingwell Croft for 30 years, where he looked after & helped so many patients.

He was such a humble person, so kind and caring. Richard adored his children, family & friends - he loved socialising, running, walking & travelling - we had such fun times together! we were so lucky to have visited so many incredible countries in the last 18 months of his life.

Richard was one in a million,  a true gentleman and as you all know, I could go on forever about him.

He knew oesophageal cancer would be the greatest challenge of his life. He took it on and fought it so hard. He didn't complain once, but in the end, it won!!

This is why we're supporting Guts UK Charity in Richard's memory. We're getting to grips with guts!

Guts UK are the charity for the digestive system. They're a member of the Less Survivable Cancers Taskforce (the LSCT), a group of charities aiming to double survival rates for the less survivable cancers (including oesophageal, stomach, liver, pancreatic, brain & lung) by 2029. Guts UK raise awareness of digestive diseases, their symptoms but also fund life-saving and life-changing research.

Symptoms of oesophageal cancer include:
• Difficulty swallowing • Indigestion, heartburn/reflux that won't go away • Unexplained weight loss • Pain in throat/behind breastbone • Regurgitating food • A cough that won't go away • Hoarseness • Coughing up blood • Dark poo
